FEMALE RIDER PATSY QUICK SET FOR
950 SUPER ENDURO RIDE IN BAJA GB

Desert Rose Racing enters two-bike team in Baja GB

NEWTOWN (Wales): Heathfield?s Patsy Quick, a veteran of several Dakar rallies, will lead the female motorcycle charge into this weekend?s Baja GB, Britain?s first ever FIA-sanctioned Cross-Country Baja, which also runs under the auspices of the Auto Cycle Union and has attracted a quality entry from 14 countries.

Patsy and team riding colleague Clive Town will both compete under the Desert Rose Racing banner, with Patsy set to take part on a powerful KTM 950 Super Enduro, supported by Bracken?s of London. Town will ride a KTM 525 Rallye.

Both riders fulfilled their goal of reaching the finish of the Dakar for the first time two years ago. The world?s most punishing endurance rally nearly claimed Patsy?s life in Egypt in 2003. She crashed heavily near Siwa in the Egyptian desert and had to undergo emergency medical surgery in a desert medical centre to remove a ruptured spleen.

?I?ve had many dramatic moments in my career, but I really wanted to support Baja GB and to encourage the larger capacity bikes to enter and do well,? said Patsy. ?Clive has decided to ride a fully-dressed Rallye bike, rather than just an enduro-spec bike, and we are both looking forward to the challenge immensely.?

The 24-strong motorcycle entry received a further boost at the weekend, when Richmond-based journalist and motorcycle rider Paul Blezard entered for a second successive season.

The event starts in Builth Wells on Friday afternoon and reaches its conclusion in Builth Wells on Sunday, August 19th after up to seven varied and challenging special stages in the Radnor, Myherin, Sweet Lamb and Hafren forest areas of mid-Wales.
