NEW DEVON OFF-ROAD VENUE SET
TO HOST FOURTH ROUND OF BCCC

NEWTOWN (Wales): Hartnoll Farm, near Tiverton in Devon, will host the fourth round of the 2008 Britpart MSA British Cross-Country Championship (BCCC), on August 16th-17th.

Hartnoll Farm is situated to the east of the town and has been developed as a country activities centre. It is hosting a round of the BCCC for the first time, but the venue regularly attracts visitors for shooting events, conferences and the Mid Devon Show, which takes place on Saturday (July 26th).

Tiverton is the largest town in mid Devon. It is a busy market hub with a population of around 17,500 and is situated north of Exeter on the A396. The town stands on the Exe and Lowman rivers and was once a centre for the woollen industry. Much of the town now centres around a nearby lace factory, which has been operational since 1816.

"We are delighted to be running an event in the south-west of the country at this new venue," said Selwyn Kendrick, spokesman for Marches 4×4 Motorsport Management, the organisers of the BCCC. "It gives us the opportunity to take the BCCC to a new area of the country and a chance to try out a new venue."

Entries are now open for the main event and are scheduled to close on Friday, August 1st. The fee is £150 and further details are available from Wendy Tomley, Entries Secretary, Cwm Cochen, Bettws, Newtown, Powys, SY16 3LQ, Tel: 01686 626641, Fax: 01686 628618, E-mail: wt@tomleys.co.uk.

The weekend’s timetable begins with scrutineering and documentation on Saturday morning from 07.30hrs (August 16th), with Safari competition on the four-mile stage getting underway at 10.00hrs. Day two action resumes at 09.30hrs on Sunday and runs through until early afternoon.

All the usual registered contenders are expected to attend the meeting, with Huddersfield’s Richard Kershaw attempting to defend his championship lead as the championship heads into the second half of the season.
