ON IN NEWPORT POOL OPEN
NEWPORT (Shropshire): Chetwynd End’s Mick Collins and Gnosall’s Ian Mason are safely through to the third round of the 2008 Coors Newport Pool Open after sealing victories over Gnosall’s Anthony Cox and Audco’s Luke Jones.
Mason managed to oust former Shakespeare league player Luke Jones in straight frames at the Audco, but Collins dropped one frame at Gnosall’s Navigation Inn on his way to a 3-1 win.
All remaining third-round ties were scheduled to be played by the end of this week and the draw for the fourth round of both the Coors Newport Open and the Worthington’s Newport Doubles Open will be made at the weekend.
