The event ran as a round of the FIA International Cup for Cross-Country Bajas in 2008 and 2010 and was a candidate event in 2007 and 2020.

*The event ran as a club rally for the first time.

**Because of Covid-19 and radical changes to the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas calendar, the SAMF ran two Bajas in December 2020 as rounds four and five of the series.

The 2022 event (Saudi Baja 2022-Hail) was the seventh round of the FIA World Cup and FIM Bajas World Cup and round three of the FIA Middle East Cup and Saudi Toyota Rally Championship.

The 2023 and 2024 events were the opening rounds of both the FIA World and Middle East Baja Cups, the FIM Bajas World Cup and the Saudi Toyota Rally Championship. The event was officially known as the Hail Toyota International Rally in 2024.
