AL-MANAR BY DRAGON RACING’S AL-ZUBAIR TEAMS UP WITH DENNIS MARSCHALL FOR GT OPEN FINALE AT MONZA
MONZA (ITALY): Oman’s Al-Faisal Al-Zubair will share the Al-Manar by Dragon Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO with Germany’s Dennis Marschall for the final round of the 2026 International GT Open – the Monza GT Open 500 – in Italy this weekend.
Al-Zubair has tackled just two rounds of the Endurance series this season at Misano and Paul Ricard with Italian racer David Fuminelli and Great Britain’s Ben Tuck. The team finished sixth and seventh in the Pro class at the Italian circuit and second and fifth in France.
Marschall, 30, regularly competes in the ADAC GT Masters and teamed up with Al-Manar Racing earlier in the year to compete in the Michelin Dubai 24H race at the Dubai Autodrome with Al-Zubair, Axcil Jeffries and Dustin Blattner. He has also been competing recently with Kessel Racing in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance and Sprint Cups
Al-Zubair said: “Really looking forward to this Monza round. It feels like it’s been quite a while since I have been in the car, since July. I am excited to getting back in the car, especially with Dennis Marschall who I have raced with before in Dubai. He is someone I rate very highly and, hopefully, I think with a strong package from Dragon Racing, I hope we can achieve a solid result this weekend and fight for the win.
“It’s also very positive that it’s an endurance race this weekend, as opposed to two shorter races. I personally prefer this type of racing and hope we can bring a strong result.”
This weekend’s Endurance finale on the iconic Italian 5.793km circuit has attracted a dozen teams competing in the Pro class, in addition to 21 teams in the ProAm and Amateur ranks.
Dubai-based Al-Manar by Dragon Racing faces competition from the series-leading Elite Motorsport Ferrari, a trio of Team Motopark Mercedes’, the Greystone GT McLaren, two AF Corse Ferraris, a Scuderia Villorba Corse Lamborghini, the debuting Faems Team by Nova Race BMW, Leipert Motorsport’s Lamborghini and the ZRS Motorsport Porsche.
International GT Open entrants will share the circuit with Euroformula Open, GT Cup Europe and TCR Europe competitors.
Private tests are planned for Thursday, September 24th with a pair of one-hour free practice sessions scheduled for 11.20hrs and 15.50hrs on Friday, September 25th.
The first of the 25-minute qualifying sessions gets underway at 11.20hrs on Saturday (September 26th) and is followed by the second qualifying stint, starting at 14.45hrs.
In a change to the format used for the other International GT Open endurance races, the season’s finale will be contested over one race. The Monza GT Open 500 fires into life at 12.30hrs and will run for 500km or 2hr 55min plus one lap.
