2025 UIM-ABP European Continental Aquabike Championship

IMPRESSIVE 110-RIDER FIELD SET FOR THIS WEEKEND’S GRAND PRIX OF PORTUGAL IN MIRA

Friday, July 4: Aquabike Promotion and the organising FPM have attracted 110 riders to take part in this weekend’s Grand Prix of Mira, Portugal, the second round of the 2025 UIM-ABP Aquabike European Continental Championship.

After registration and scrutineering on Thursday, race officials confirmed that 14 racers will compete in the flagship Runabout GP1 category, 22 in Ski GP1, eight in Ski Ladies GP1 and three in Freestyle. The opening formalities were attended by Artur Fresco, the Mayor of Mira.

France drew first blood in the Runabout GP1, Ski Division GP1 and Ski Ladies GP1 categories at the opening round in Poland last month with Jérémy Perez, Mickael Poret and Jessica Chavanne aiming to build upon their early season leads this weekend. Defending European Champion Roberto Mariani tops the Freestyle section. All four are in attendance this weekend.

Defending World Champion Quinten Bossche and Poret’s brothers, Morgan and Jéremy, are just two of the massive contingent trying to prevent Mickael Poret from extending his Ski GP1 lead.

In addition, there are seven entries in both Ski GP2 and Ski GP3, five in Ski GP4 and extra Juniors in the GP3.2 and 3.3 categories. Nine riders will compete for glory in the Runabout GP2 section, 15 are entered in Runabout GP4 and an additional 11 in Runabout GP4 Ladies and seven in Runabout GP4 Juniors round off the massive field.

Friday’s action features free practice and qualifying sessions in the Ski GP3, Runabout GP4, Ski GP4, Runabout GP4 Ladies, Ski Juniors GP3.2 and 3.3 and Runabout GP4 Junior sections.

Further practice and qualifying follows in the afternoon for the Ski GP2, Runabout GP2, Ski Ladies GP1, Ski GP1 and Runabout GP1 classes and these precede the first three Motos and Freestyle pole position.
